Summer 2014 Parties

It's summer again; this is the time of the year when my naturally tanned skin becomes an instant fad. And abs are all the range. And it’s the perfect excuse in showing off our body. (Unless you don't have one)LOL Another great thing about summer is there are loads of destinations you can go to party proly at Bora and Thailand for the water festival they have a pride parade. And it's even more awesome because you don’t need to get out of Mindanao in order for you to have fun because local events organizers has arranged several music festivals for all of us. Most of them don't just end in less than a day; it lasts 2-3 days.   

We need to be at the beach right or something that would make us wet? I’m gonna show you the list of parties that I know and have heard off. But I’m not gonna go to all the parties, geeezzz. That's too much! I’m just gonna list them down and also give you my itinerary. (Me and my social commitments) Follow at your own risk.

This is not yet a summer kick-off party but I'm putting this on the radar. It's going to be The Earth Hour this Friday; SM Lanang and Manic wants us to celebrate with them by partying hard while the lights are all off. There is always something new to look forward to and since its free definitely a must go.

Going on the 5th only

I've been waiting for this since last February the sad thing is I'm just going to be there only the 5th because of some urgent matter. How I wish there was a direct flight from Manila to Mati. This is definitely a must go so if you haven't planned with your friends better get going because its going to be next week. I believe this is going to be a hell of a fun weekend. Look at the line up and loads of fun activities to do. I wanna get drunk then get lost with the waves if that's physically possible. #YOLO. I'm just so excited to rough it up on the beach. No, wait already had room reservations. Lets just see how this one goes. 

And Oh look two of the country's best Hypemen are going to be there. MC PAOLO and MC BOO, you must be a really sad person if you don't like to party with them.

One of my dearest friend is a DJ Jet Fan girl. And I can still remember the flight and his awesome mix cd. I also wanna see X-factor do his thing sad because I wasn't able to go to his party few weeks ago. For only 300 bucks this is definitely worth going to. No risk just the two hour drive, I have nothing to lose.

OMG! Beer on a summer party. Like oh nose! I might join and win the beer drinking contest. The price is quite high for two DJ though so this might be an exclusive-ish party. There were adjustments though but this is good in a way we might see more familiar faces. But I will still check if I'm really going to this party. No one's buzzing about it just yet. I noticed the 18+ only, are you going to check their ids? Just a thought. I noticed loads of high school people partying not that I'm against it. It's just illegal to let minor drink. That's why we call 18+ of legal age? lol

I don't have much details but if I do I would definitely tell everyone. All I know is it has foam and we're going to party at the streets. Curse and Bless is the highlight. I am not really a fan of electro and trance not because I don't like it but because people just don't dance when its playing. I might be at Destination Summer at the time.

Their campaign ads have always been witty and I've always been a fan of MSE. I feel that this is going to like temptation island I hope were not going to eat a gay guy out of starvation though. LOL One thing that made me curious is the location. I'm just shocked but definitely the must go.

Araw ng Davao weekend #Liberalia2014

I'm so sorry if I wrote this one like super late. The after parties are killing me. As we speak, I'm writing while I'm drunk. But hey, what's new right? All of you still love and care what I have to say. 

So much for the long excuse. Let's cut to the chase. Over all, I felt that liberalia was okay. Not too spectacular but good enough to keep a partyphile happy for a while. When I was partying last Saturday, I kept on asking myself what was missing here? Why is there an empty space in my heart that keeps on telling me there is really something wrong in this picture? Although, Manic has always been close to my heart believe me. LOL

I actually, risked everything for Liberalia. I didn't go to playground the day before, and didn't went to the step up on the 15th. Let's start with things that I liked to make this entry more positive. On contrary on what my friends were saying, Wacky's and DJ Torch's set was actually the best set of the night. True, it may not be all that original but who cares about that? What people need is something to dance with. The escalation from trance, techno and EDM was a really good combination. The saddest part is no one got to listen to it since people came in fashionably late. Yes, I was early. It's like the first time. Didn't want to risk not being drunk again just like the traumatic experience we had with Carte Blanche. So much for ranting. I lurv the drink since its close to the unlimited promise. 

But just a comment from the Bacardi people, please next time give some variety not everyone likes coke with their rum. I was enoughly satisfied I didn't even notice that they ran out of drink since I was enjoying the moment dancing with my friends. However, I was at shocked when they served Fundador lights at a Bacardi event. Like, why is that? I happened to talk to some bartenders, they said the crowd was lesser than they expected  why did the booze ran out yet again. Weird. Good thing that there were alot of partyphiles giving free drinks, its not a party without anyone drinking from the bottle. The bar was also so far and for the VIP area where there are like a thousand people you need to walk far to have a drink. Maybe they should have assigned to bars on both sides not just near the entrance.

I really enjoyed the Bacardi powered water guns and water guns with Neon Glow paint. It was dirty and I liked it. Well not so much, it was kinda sticky good thing it rained everything just washed off. I was expecting a champagne shower just like what they told us earlier but I guess expectation is different from reality. I wanted to be Merco caked too. There must be someone who took a photo of that. I want to emphasize this, the guards are so KJ. There were people who were drinking from the bottle then they asked them to stop. Dude, instead of bothering people having fun security should have made sure GA people should stay where they where they should be. People liked paid for 1,500 to be in the VIP then some GA just go their drink from the bar and shit. Not cool. The effort of having a fragile wrist band was a fail.

Let's go to the music and the DJs. Aliana and Clyde Harris rocked it. Sadly people didn't get to listen to Aliana  either they were still not yet there, they are busy eating or they are drinking outside of the grounds. Sad actually.
The others I didn't really cared as long as we can dance to it. It was fine as I said nothing spectacular.

Is it me or was DJ Surf's set was unflattering? He just played around 4 EDM tracks for like a few seconds and went to techno. Also people had to force him to take his top of before he did. :( So much for topless DJ. Good thing that Universo Robot was there one word. "Hypnotic". 

Ace Ramos set was eargasmic but it came it too late we were all like tired already. That's bringing republiq in Davao. Kudos! MCPaolo is really awesome handling the crowd, now we know why they are the best in the biz.

Was the party fun? Yes. Was it worth it? I was okay. Would I wanna go to Liberalia2015? No.Would I go to the next manic event? Ofcourse!

Over all I'll give it a 7 out of 10 stars. I'm sure you can do way way better than that.

I was going to ignore the street party but I felt that It can be a really cool after party. So why choose when you can go to both! Duh?!

Since it's free that wouldn't be a problem probably well grab a bottle of Capt. Morgan since we are already drunk at #Liberalia that is they are true to their word on the unlimited shit. That way we can also ignore the common people that might be around, that would be inevitable guys. Admit it! 

So, here's our plan we will leave Liberalia after the party gets boring you know that denouma so that we won't miss any happenings downtown. I'm pretty sure that we can still catch up with INGO VOGELMANN it's high time for us to see and hear someone who produce his own beat. And if its "Intentional" foesure he won't disappoint. For the two DJs like Coki and Cherry Summer well already listened to them so I can forego them even if I love Cherry Summer. 

You see you don't need to measure opportunity cost if everything is equally fun go for both and lets have a good time. So we won't have any regrets at the end. I'm still hoping that there won't be a liquor ban but if there is. My stash will be arranged. So excited for the weekend, lets pain the town beautifully, well literally!

And Oh! Oh! Organizer me would want to have this shirt. Like really bad! I want to put paint all over it them make it sleeveless to show off my biceps. (working out for the summer ehem!)

Turning a dull Thursday Night to FUN

I wanted to say legendary or EPIC #Dicentium, latin for EPIC. That can be a name of a party. LOL But I guess that's too much of an overstatement. Let's just use FUN, random FUN.

You know those moments, when there are no places available or the place available for a kickback is becoming really dull, you might have a snoozefest? My friends were in desperate need of alcohol and music. We were not expecting so much. So what we did was we drove around and find a place to chill and found ourselves in Club Velvet very zzzz, next moon but no one was there, wen't to hybrid same thing, brewery same old same old. G-R-R-R where to go? My friend suggested RUNWAY. Runway? as in fashion runway ironic because its one of the most machismo bars I've ever been to. The peg is sports definitely not what I was looking for but we like had no choice, this was the only joint where we can do our thing. 

I don't know what has gotten to my friends and they convinced me to order wine. Not really my thing so I had San Mig on my left hand and wine on my right. I don't like sniffing and sipping wine you have to drink it all, Bottoms Up! Now, I felt a slight of intoxication. Just to add a bit of an umf had to shots of tequila. While I was getting my shot, the music changed. My dear friend, went bazoork again and ask the DJ, "Can I play with your Toy?" And so he did. This is when the fun started. It was DJ Gary the resident DJ and by far one of the best I've ever listened to. He really knows how to give us what we want, you know that feeling that you don't know what to expect? Makes me feel excited. You see in bars its quite normal that DJs play the same songs over and over again but this one he gave us variety, he gave us a time to chill, he gave us elevation, a climax and a proper denouma. You know when DJs play the same beat with different tracks he doesn't do that.

I don't just say this to just anybody, he just really knows how to spice up the party and when we acknowledge his brilliance is was very humble. This is one of the Jocks that plays not because of the recognition but because its their passion. And with years of experience I'm sure he knows what he is talking about. I am an official fan! #crazy I know!

I think there were only 4 of us dancing and doing head bangs but as ICONA POP say "I don't care, I love it". Like our very own private party on a dull Thursday!

Try partying with DJ Gary. Just don't be passive and make him see that you want to have a good time. And he'll generously give it to you, remember he made my best girl friend play with his toy?! Be the effin Party!

Saturday on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the Brewery

After the whole shebang from Saturday night’s Euphoria experience. I suddenly came across this Ad on Mustard Seed’s wall. I love the campaign! Its very funny. Well, I’m not exactly poor but I love a good bargain.

I wanted to be the first one to try it out if this is like really effin’ serious. I remembered GROUPON the good old days, when you get to buy online this deal and be in the establishment and have half price off or more. Anyway, that’s just history class for our education. Now, I gathered some random friends over social media sadly the reply was not exactly what I expected, I only gathered few of my troops and some random people. Either they were beat up from last nights party or they were out of budget or family time yadi yadi ya.

As expected no one was there. I wont mention the creatures that I saw crawling around but that didn't matter The brewery is still the brewery. LOL I love it captain Morgan was only for 290ish and Smirnoff off orange was like 400 ish. Cheaper than the stores actually. Our eyes were like sparkling like we just opened a very nice gift for Christmas during the start of summer. Sadly and I want to point this out, Red Label is not part of the promo says the waiter. Why is that? Sad actually but its okay we just bought 2 Capt and 1 Smirnoff then we played our EDM track. Suddenly our friends from Ateneo came from their marketing awards night Agiopo (not sure with the spelling). The volume went so high and the alcohol was pouring. Everyone was doing Karaoke over EDM song; it really felt like it was not a Saturday. Honestly I don't remember the names of the people I interact with. 

Went home super drunk. Lessons here are, its better when you don’t plan. Fun is relative. Bargains make people happy (even just a bit as long as we can feel it).

For me good music, great company and drinks and more drinks are the perfect combination to an absolutely epic party experience.

Do the same thing today! Tara! (typing while working, having a hang over and thinking of the next party)

Project Euphoria, Project Success!

Before I start with my Euphoria experience. I would like to commend the organizers Spectrum Events Management Davao and DDC Hospitality Management Department for a job well done. You did a pretty good job in marketing 400 people for an indoor party is not bad! You fill the place up and it’s my first time to see that place packed. But ofcourse, Migs has (can’t believe am referring to myself on a 3^rd person point of view) always been known to be brutally honest with everything. So here we go!

I went there around 9pm. I guess it was too early for any action to happen. So we just sat on the table and I was like thinking. Who are these people? I honestly don’t see them at the regular party places. Which is actually a good thing that means that the party scene in Davao is growing, and this also means am aging by the minute. Imagine 1995 babies are like 18 years old right now. Enough side comments, let’s cut crap and talk about the party. DJ Patrick Buttgereit was playing post techno beat thingy we describe it as street disco throwback music and it’s not even Thursday. Party old school style but this was too much. Call me bariotic and provincial but I just didn't get it and I think most people agree with me, don’t be stupid partyphiles no like dancing to that beat. We including me were just sitting and waiting for something to happen. Like it’s already 10pm and in Davao time it’s not early. My friend who usually didn't give a f*ck what the music was was surprisingly bored and the DJ was still playing quite insensitive actually or maybe he just came in too prepared and can’t whip up something random in a spur of the moment. Well, probably that’s his style.

Then there was this Emcee who keeps on repeating “put your hands up in the air” like it’s his only vocabulary? Seriously? So we didn’t wanna stay inside. We smoking outside and saying crap about the music and preparing to leave then suddenly a light from the sky opened (metaphor to something miraculous happening) and Clyde Harris played Silhouettes by Avicii my theme song for the month followed by Levels. We threw our cigs and partied like crazy inside and forgot all about the crap it’s like EUPHORIA slowly redeemed itself. It was very timely that familiar faces were already coming in at least we already knew some people. As I describe the place from my previous Velvet experience it was really classy and it’s really awesome to see people party inside ofcourse unlike outside parties you can’t carry girls over your shoulders but that doesn't mean that we can’t be as wild. I can feel sweet innocence on most of their eyes. Like the fascination I had on my first party way back 2005, when I saw the trends many said it was their first time and that is just so awesome. Well among all the partyphiles two pairs caught our attention MOMOLing. The sad thing about it is we were lack jawed since they did a really good job. Make us felt kinda bitter. -.-

Drinks were arranged so that was not a problem so some of the partyphiles drank from the bottle. It’s never a party if no one gives out free mouth shots. Then there were random balloons flying, I didn't know where that came from but I was guess it added to the fun. We were sweating like crazy so much for dressing up. LOL I can even squeeze my shirt and water would come out. TMI I know. I just can’t believe the air condition is not spreading out; maybe it was too much artificial fog. I get it you want effects but you don’t was to suffocate us. Enough aesthetics talk, we didn't care because Clyde had an awesome set. Not to mention DJ/MC Wacky saved the day a better fit in pumping the crowd. There was synergy going on and it’s really great seeing two organizers come together to make us have a good time. So far, its best indoor party for the year.

If you ask me if I still wanna go to another Spectrum event; DEFINITELY! And if your teacher asks was this event successful… “Yes, Ma’am/ Sir it was epic and this is our legacy”. And If I was your teacher guys, I definately give you an A++.

But I am not your teacher so for now I'll give it 8 out of 10 stars. 2 stars are for improvement I hate being teased like that.
